Project Overview
Redesigned and reorganized an existing iPad application to reflect updated branding, enhance discoverability and usability, and integrate user‑requested features — all while preserving existing functionality.
My Contributions
  • Researched best practices for iPad app design to enhance usability and discoverability
  • Mapped and documented existing functionality and workflows to establish a clear baseline
  • Began with pencil-and-paper wireframes and sketches before creating layouts in Adobe Illustrator
  • Transitioned to Adobe XD for refining designs as the tool became available
  • Developed interactive prototypes in InVision to support user testing and feedback
  • Maintained all existing functionality while significantly improving interface organization and overall user experience

The FieldCenter app update was driven by new App Store requirements and the need to better align its functionality with the desktop application it supported. I created a business document detailing the use cases for each of the expected flows, then began mapping and documenting the current workflows.

From there, I researched iPad/tablet design best practices and default controls to streamline development and improve usability. Starting with paper prototypes allowed me to quickly validate or debunk assumptions before moving to detailed layouts in Adobe Illustrator. Midway through, I transitioned designs into Adobe XD and InVision for clickable prototypes, ensuring flows were solid before investing in final design and development.
