Research

I don't assume I know your domain. Before designing solutions, I investigate how things currently work—analyzing technical systems, mapping existing workflows, and validating my understanding against real data. This prevents the costly mistake of designing for imagined problems instead of actual ones.Good research asks "how does this work now?" before proposing "here's what should change."

Learning an unfamiliar domain through systematic research—analyzing 12,683 records, iterating 17 times, and catching gaps through internal testing before customer validation.
  • Domain learning through systematic investigation - Analyzing existing systems, technical documentation, and usage data before designing new solutions. Understanding current workflows prevents designing for imagined problems instead of actual ones.
  • Internal validation before customer research - Testing with internal proxy users to catch missing scenarios early. Finding gaps in controlled settings prevents wasting customers' time with incomplete designs.
